What made you choose a career in nursing?
I received my EMT license right out of high school, and worked on the ambulance for a few years to figure out if this was where I wanted to be. I had planned to become a firefighter paramedic, and after reviewing my stature and physical ability thought nursing was a better fit.
I was intrigued by a story back in the 1980's about a child who had been burned, and that story stayed in my mind until adult hood, and thought Burn Nursing is where I would best be utilized. So I went and finished my ADN and received my RN license and started immediately work in the Burn Center.
What motivates you at the start of each day?
A drive to succeed and to make an impact on this world, and a calling from God to do this work the assurance that He will provide me with the strength to do the job well.
